Stroll Competition Rules
THE RULES AND CONDITIONS OF THIS APPLICATION ARE FINAL. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS. By signing below, you are agreeing, as a team representative, to all rules and conditions herein and that will be adhered to by each team member. Failure to comply with any portion of the aforementioned can result in team disqualification or point deduction, as to be determined by the step show chair, co-chair, and judges.
Submit competition applications as per stated deadlines.
Open to D9 Orgs, Band Sororities, and Fraternities; minimum of 3 people must participate; not to exceed 3 minutes
Perform at the stroll competition after the Circle City Classic being held on September 28th according to the judging criteria stated in the show information packet.
Stroll off 2 rounds - all music must be the clean version
Round 1 - top 5 Round 2 Top 3
Scoring
· Time begins when the performance starts
· Creativity/Originality (10 points)
· Uniformity (10 points)
· Crowd Response (10 points)
· Enthusiasm (10 points)
· Difficulty (10 points)
Notify the stroll competition committee no less than 10 days prior to the show date, in the event the team cannot perform.
The stroll team assumes all risk in its performance of all activities authorized by this agreement, and is responsible for all actions whatsoever committed by your team that may cause harm or injury to persons or property.
The order of the show will be determined by a random drawing prior to the show.
There will be a panel of 3 guest judges.
During the show, any obscenity, nudity, violence degrading of any organizations, explicit or lewd acts, EXCESSIVE gyrations, humping the floor, eating pie etc., and the use of vulgarity will result in point deductions or team disqualification. Music must be radio-edited.
The use of screens, floor shows, fog machines, fire or fireworks, or special lighting is not allowed for the performances.
No props that require any clean up.
Adhere to Regulations:
Indiana Black Expo or its Stroll Competition committee will not be held responsible for the actions of the contestants.
Each stroll team will delegate a “Captain,” that will disseminate all information to his or her respective team.
Stroll teams should consist of a minimum of three (3) strollers and a maximum of ten (10).
Undergraduate, graduate, and/or mixed teams from the same organization (undergraduates and graduates) are eligible to compete.
Members of your stroll team can be from more than one chapter,
Each team is required to prepare one stroll per round.
· Each stroll should be a maximum of 3 mins each. A three (3) point deduction will be made for every 15 seconds over.
· Time will start once music begins playing.
· All music must be emailed to with a description of the order of use. Teams MUST also bring their music on a flash drive as backup.
· In the event of a “Sudden Death” round, the teams will have the opportunity to choose one of the three pre-selected songs to stroll to. Each team will have 1 minute to stroll. The CROWD and Judges will then select a winner.
The decision of the judges is final.
